Overview

Royal Mail offers a free service for testing Mailsort Software. This service is applicable to software which has been designed to sort addresses for Mailsort 1400, 700 (CBC), 120 (CBC or OCR), Presstream, Walksort, International Bulk Mail, International Destination Sort and Zone & Format Sort.

Royal Mail requires that Mailsort 700 and 120 customers use accredited software (i.e software which has passed this testing process). Mailsort 1400, Presstream and Walksort customers are recommended (but not required) to use accredited software.

A supplier who passes the testing process will have the option of appearing on Royal Mail's accredited Mailsort Suppliers Directory.

Testing Process

If you wish to have your Mailsort software tested, you will be required to sort a list of approximately 28,500 UK addresses and submit for validation the Computer Planning Report and Line Listing generated by your software.

The test process involves the following steps:

1. Download a copy of the Test Data Contract and return the completed Contract to the Mailsort Technical Department
2. Download the Mailsort/International Bulk Mail Test Address List and Database and/or the Walksort Test Address List and Database or alternatively receive the International Destination Sort via email
3. Sort the test address list using your Mailsort/International Bulk Mail or Walksort/International Bulk Mail software or International Destination Sort
4. Submit your reports to the Mailsort Technical Department for validation
5. If you wish to be included in the mailsort suppliers directory, or wish to have your existing entry renewed then download, complete and return a Mailsort Product Questionnaire
