Mailsort Database Versions and Releases

The Mailsort Database undergoes a major revision once every 12-24 months. This revision brings about a new database Version.

The current Version of the Mailsort Database is Database 2007, which came into effect on 23rd July 2007.

During the lifetime of a Mailsort Database, it is sometimes necessary to make changes to the selection codes of some Postcode Districts, or to introduce new Postcodes which were not envisaged when the Database was first created.

If new Postcodes are introduced, or selection codes changed, then a new Mailsort Database Release is produced which reflects these additions and alterations. (When a new Database Version is produced it is always "Release 1").

It is recommended, but not compulsory, for customers to use the most recent Release of the Mailsort Database. It is however important that customers ensure that they use the current Version of the Mailsort Database to sort their mailings.

Mailsort Customer Final Label Database

Because of changes in the Royal Mail delivery network, it is sometimes necessary to change the Final Labelling Database during the lifetime of a Mailsort Database Version.

Customer Final Labelling equipment supplied by Royal Mail will be upgraded by The Barcode Warehouse on behalf of Royal Mail each time the Final Labelling Database is revised.

The Customer Final Label Database files are available for download from this site:
